Buying lari

We accept Georgian lari banknotes of all denominations and series — the condition of each note is assessed by the cashier on site. New and well-preserved banknotes are valued at the full rate; for heavily worn, stained or damaged notes, the valuation may be adjusted individually after inspection. Show your notes at the counter — we'll check them quickly in front of you.

Selling lari

Lari in the main denominations are usually available on the spot at both branches. If you need specific denominations or a larger amount, call ahead — we'll set the cash aside and lock in a rate for you.

How a Georgian lari exchange works

  1. Check the current GEL/PLN rate — on our site or by phone.
  2. If the rate suits you, submit your order online and lock it in for 60 minutes.
  3. Come to our branch in Warsaw (Al. Jerozolimskie 47) or Kraków (Starowiślna 42).
  4. Tell us what you need — buying or selling lari, and how much.
  5. Our cashier checks the banknotes and counts the amount in front of you.
  6. You receive your cash and a transaction receipt.

The exchange usually takes just a few minutes. For transactions from the equivalent of EUR 15,000, we apply AML verification — a national ID card or passport is enough.

Frequently asked questions about Georgian lari exchange

What currency is used in Georgia?+

Georgia's official currency is the Georgian lari (code GEL, symbol ₾). 1 lari is divided into 100 tetri. Paying in lari is usually cheapest in shops, restaurants and markets — euros and dollars are accepted only at unfavourable conversion rates.

How much is 100 lari in PLN?+

The calculator and table on this page show the current value of 100 GEL in PLN — the same buy and sell rate applies at the counter. We update the GEL/PLN rate continuously.

Is it better to exchange lari in Poland or in Georgia?+

It's worth having lari on arrival — for airport transport, tickets and first purchases. Rates at Tbilisi airport and hotels are often poor. With us you know the rate upfront and can lock it for 60 minutes.

Can I sell lari after returning from Georgia?+

Yes, we buy GEL banknotes. Coins (tetri) are not accepted at the table rate — the cashier decides on site. Cash only.

What's today's Georgian lari exchange rate?+

You'll find the current GEL/PLN rate in the calculator above, updated continuously. Buy and sell rates can shift during the day depending on market movements.

Where's the best place to exchange lari for złoty?+

At Valuta.com.pl you exchange lari with no commission or hidden fees, at either our Warsaw or Kraków branch.

Can I order a Georgian lari exchange online?+

Yes. Submit your order on our website and the rate will be locked for you for 60 minutes.

Transactions above this amount are handled in line with AML regulations — contact us in advance by phone or submit an online order.

What Georgian lari banknotes do you accept?+

We accept Georgian lari banknotes in any condition — the cashier assesses each note on site and may adjust the valuation individually for heavily worn or damaged notes.

Do I need ID to exchange lari?+

Up to the equivalent of EUR 15,000 — no. Above that threshold, under AML regulations, we'll ask for a national ID card or passport.

Do you charge commission for exchanging lari?+

No — the rate you see is the final rate, with no additional fees.

Walk-in exchange office or online exchange — which is better for lari?+

An online-only exchange service requires a bank transfer, so you wait 1–3 business days. With us you combine a rate locked online with same-day cash pickup.
