Sell and Buy Gold With Us
Do you have gold jewelry you no longer wear, coins inherited from family, investment bars bought years ago, or simply scrap gold without a clear purity mark? At Valuta.com.pl you can turn them into cash the same day — no appointment needed, no hidden fees, and no price cut disguised as a “promotion.” We are a licensed currency exchange office (NBP registry no. 19728), operating in Warsaw and Krakow for years, with over 150 positive customer reviews. We set the buying price transparently — based on purity, weight and the current gold rate published by the National Bank of Poland, not on how urgently you need the cash.
Below you'll find the current gold price, an indicative valuation calculator, and full information on what types of gold we buy, how the selling process works, and how we ensure transaction safety.
Why sell your gold to us
The gold buying market in Poland is full of offers promising the “best price” — in practice, the difference between an honest dealer and an outlet focused on maximizing margin can be huge. Here's what genuinely sets us apart:
Licensed exchange office activity
We're not an anonymous buying point — we operate as a registered exchange office (NBP registry no. 19728), meaning regulatory oversight, mandatory AML procedures, and full transaction traceability.
Price based on the official NBP rate, not guesswork
You can verify the base gold price we use yourself on the National Bank of Poland's website — we don't hide our pricing formula.
Cash or transfer the same day
No waiting for “head office approval,” no mailing your gold to an unknown company and waiting weeks for a quote.
Two branches in the centers of Poland's two largest cities
Warsaw (Al. Jerozolimskie 47) and Krakow (ul. Starowiślna 42) — plus the option to arrange a meeting, courier pickup, or shipment from another city or country.
Zero pressure
Valuation is free and non-binding — take your time to review our offer and decide whether to sell.
Current gold price (NBP reference rate)
Base price per National Bank of Poland (NBP), updated once per business day. Prices for lower fineness are calculated proportionally from 1000 fineness. Our buying price may differ — get an exact quote in branch.
What types of gold we buy
Gold that comes to us falls into four main categories — each with its own valuation logic and handling process. Here's what to expect before you even visit our branch.
Gold coins — bullion and collector
We split gold coins into two groups with completely different valuation logic. Bullion (investment) coins — such as the American Gold Eagle, British Britannia, or Canadian Maple Leaf — are valued primarily by their pure gold content (weight × purity) and the current metal rate, with a small premium or discount depending on demand for a given year. Collector and historical coins — such as pre-war 20-dollar Saint-Gaudens or Liberty Head pieces, or Nicholas II-era rubles — are valued differently: beyond gold content, condition, mintage rarity, and numismatic value matter, which can significantly exceed the “pure” bullion value. We list over 120 items with current buying and selling prices.

Bars are the simplest form of physical gold investment — typically 999.9 or 999 purity, in weights from 1 gram to 1 kilogram, produced by recognized, LBMA-accredited mints (PAMP, Valcambi, Argor-Heraeus, Mennica Polska and others). We buy bars both with an original assay certificate in sealed packaging and without packaging — after additional on-site verification. Price is calculated by weight, purity, and the current NBP rate.

Rings, chains, earrings, bracelets, watches with a gold case — if you have jewelry sitting in a drawer that you don't wear, it's probably worth checking its value. We price it by weight and purity (most commonly 333, 375, 500, 585, 750 or 916 for jewelry), whether new or used, as long as its condition allows a clear purity determination. Jewelry with stones (diamonds, cubic zirconia, other precious or semi-precious stones) is valued separately from the gold itself.
See jewelry buying details →Scrap gold
Damaged, incomplete gold, items without a clear purity mark, or pieces from old, broken jewelry — still valuable raw material. We buy scrap gold after professional purity verification (even if the hallmark is worn or illegible).

The price we offer for your gold isn't pulled from thin air — it's the result of a simple, transparent equation you can verify yourself:
Price = weight (g) × purity/1000 × current gold rate (PLN/g per NBP) × our buying coefficient
Purity
Indicates what percentage of the alloy is pure gold. The most common purities in Poland are: 333 (33.3% gold — rare, mostly older jewelry), 375 (37.5%), 500 (50%), 585 (58.5% — the most common purity for contemporary jewelry in Poland), 750 (75% — so-called 18 karat, popular in premium jewelry), 916 (91.6% — 22 karat, typical for certain coins and Middle Eastern-style jewelry), 999 and 999.9 (nearly pure gold — the standard for investment bars and coins).
Weight
Measured on a precision jeweler's scale in your presence.
Gold rate
We base it on the official reference price published by the National Bank of Poland (updated once per business day) — the same rate shown in the calculator on this page.
Buying coefficient
Our margin, which covers verification, service, and market risk costs. We state it transparently — it's not buried in the fine print.
Example: you bring a 10 g chain, 585 purity. At a gold rate (purity 1000) of around 520 PLN/g, the pure gold value in the chain is 10 × 0.585 × 520 ≈ 3042 PLN. You'll learn our exact offer (after applying the buying coefficient) during a free on-site valuation — this example only shows the calculation mechanics, not the final price.
Worth knowing: collector coins and some bars are valued not only by metal weight, but also by numismatic value or manufacturer premium — which is why we keep separate price lists for those categories (see the section above).
How we verify gold authenticity
Before we offer a price, every item is verified in your presence:
1. Visual inspection and hallmarks
We check purity markings (hallmarks) typical of Polish and foreign jewelry pieces.
2. Weighing on a precision scale
Accurate to 0.01 g.
3. Purity verification
Depending on the item: touchstone method with acid reagents or other jewelry-industry methods, allowing us to determine actual gold content even with old or illegible hallmarks.
4. Condition assessment
For collector coins and certified bars, we also assess condition and documentation completeness.
Why does this matter? Because hallmarks can be forged, and “gold” sold casually online is sometimes gold-plated base metal. Professional verification protects both us and you — you get a price that matches the actual gold content, not what's written on a label.

Transaction safety and regulatory compliance
Selling gold to unknown intermediaries or informally at a market stall carries risk — from an undervalued price to zero accountability in a dispute. As a licensed exchange office (NBP registry no. 19728), we're subject to regulatory oversight and have obligations under anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing law (AML) — including customer identification for transactions above the equivalent of EUR 15,000. This isn't bureaucracy for its own sake — it's a guarantee that your transaction is fully legal, documented, and something you can rely on if needed (e.g., for tax purposes or property disputes). Every transaction ends with a written confirmation stating both parties' details, item description, weight, purity, and the agreed price.
Frequently asked questions about selling gold
What types of gold do you buy?+
We buy bullion and collector coins, investment bars, gold jewelry and scrap gold — regardless of purity or condition. Detailed pricing and terms for each category are on the dedicated pages linked above.
Is the gold valuation free and non-binding?+
Yes. Valuation is always free, and you only decide whether to sell after seeing a concrete offer — you can walk away with no consequences.
How fast will I get paid for my gold?+
Payment is made on the spot at the branch, right after you accept the offer — cash or bank transfer, your choice.
Is there a commission or hidden fees on gold buying?+
No. The price we present after verification is final — no added commission, handling fees, or “discounts for cash on the spot” that in practice lower the offer.
What documents do I need to sell gold?+
You need a valid photo ID (identity card or passport) — a standard requirement under anti-money-laundering regulations that applies to every licensed precious-metals dealer.
How is the gold buying price determined?+
The price depends on the metal's purity and weight, and the current gold rate — the same one published by the National Bank of Poland (see the chart above). The exact mechanism is described in the “How we determine the buying price” section above.
How can I tell if my gold is real?+
At home, you can get a rough idea from hallmarks and a magnet test (gold isn't magnetic) — but these are only indicative, not conclusive. Only professional verification, which we perform free of charge on site, gives you certainty.
Do you buy gold purchased abroad or from another dealer?+
Yes, where the gold was purchased doesn't affect the valuation — what matters is its authenticity, purity and weight. It's still worth keeping original certificates if you have them, as it speeds up verification.
Is selling gold subject to tax?+
That depends on your individual situation (including how the gold was acquired and how long you've held it) — we're not tax advisors, so if in doubt we recommend consulting a tax advisor or the tax office.
Do I need to book an appointment in advance?+
No, in standard cases we serve walk-ins without an appointment. For larger quantities of gold (e.g., several bars or a coin collection), we recommend calling the branch ahead of time so we can prepare enough cash on site.
