Romanian Leu to PLN exchange rate — Warsaw & Kraków

Romanian leu (RON) exchange rate — Valuta.com.pl

What currency is used in Romania and how much is the leu worth? Romania's currency is the Romanian leu (RON, plural lei). You'll find the live leu to PLN rate (RON/PLN) right here — the rate you'll actually get in our exchange office, not just the indicative NBP rate. At Valuta.com.pl we buy and sell Romanian lei with no commission and no minimum amount. The calculator below instantly converts lei to PLN — how much 100 or 1,000 RON is in złoty, or how many lei you get for PLN 1,000. Order online to lock the rate for 60 minutes and collect cash in Warsaw (Al. Jerozolimskie 47) or Kraków (Starowiślna 42). We are registered in the NBP currency exchange register.

Buying lei

We accept Romanian leu banknotes of all denominations and series — the condition of each note is assessed by the cashier on site. New and well-preserved banknotes are valued at the full rate; for heavily worn, stained or damaged notes, the valuation may be adjusted individually after inspection. Show your notes at the counter — we'll check them quickly in front of you.

Selling lei

Lei in the main denominations are usually available on the spot at both branches. If you need specific denominations or a larger amount, call ahead — we'll set the cash aside and lock in a rate for you.

How a Romanian leu exchange works

  1. Check the current RON/PLN rate — on our site or by phone.
  2. If the rate suits you, submit your order online and lock it in for 60 minutes.
  3. Come to our branch in Warsaw (Al. Jerozolimskie 47) or Kraków (Starowiślna 42).
  4. Tell us what you need — buying or selling lei, and how much.
  5. Our cashier checks the banknotes and counts the amount in front of you.
  6. You receive your cash and a transaction receipt.

The exchange usually takes just a few minutes. For transactions from the equivalent of EUR 15,000, we apply AML verification — a national ID card or passport is enough.

Is it better to exchange lei in Poland or in Romania?+

Can I sell lei after returning from Romania?+

Yes, we buy RON (polymer) banknotes. Coins are not accepted at the table rate — the cashier decides on site. Cash only.

You'll find the current RON/PLN rate in the calculator above, updated continuously. Buy and sell rates can shift during the day depending on market movements.

Where's the best place to exchange lei for złoty?+

At Valuta.com.pl you exchange lei with no commission or hidden fees, at either our Warsaw or Kraków branch.

Can I order a Romanian leu exchange online?+

We accept Romanian leu banknotes in any condition — the cashier assesses each note on site and may adjust the valuation individually for heavily worn or damaged notes.

Do I need ID to exchange lei?+

Below the equivalent of EUR 15,000 — no. From that threshold up, under AML regulations, we'll ask for a national ID card or passport.

Do you charge commission for exchanging lei?+

No — the rate you see is the final rate, with no additional fees.

Walk-in exchange office or online exchange — which is better for lei?+
